About Us and the Firewood Factory
The Vedex factory in Rätan has been cutting and splitting firewood since 2009 and processes approximately 16,000 solid cubic meters of birch per season. The factory is owned by Qvarnsjö Skogstjänster AB and exports firewood to Stockholm and Norway under the brand Ved of Sweden. During the snow-free season, local labor is employed in cooperation with the Swedish Public Employment Service, providing around 40,000 working hours or 23 full-time positions per year.
Selling your birch locally has its advantages
When we purchase raw materials, we aim to buy as locally as possible. This is partly to save on costly transportation but mainly to benefit the local community. When you sell raw materials locally, local haulers are prioritized, transportation costs are lower, and therefore you can get a better price for your birch. This helps the community to continue living and growing strong.

Our main focus during the summer months is forestry. We carry out forest inventory, clearing, tree felling, thinning, and planting. Do you own forest land and need help managing it?
